The Redemptive Power of Love Will Change the World

The Redemptive Power of Love Will Change the World

Last weekend I was up early in order to go to my daughter's school and help put out the barricades for a 2 mile run that to raise money for the homeless. The rain came down hard, making the spring morning feel more like winter. It was only 50 degrees out and I knew that helping in the rain and then doing the run was going to be cold and I'd be drenched by the end of it.

Come What May and the Beautiful Ice Dancing of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir

I've had a lot of thoughts juggling around in the old noodle and I wanted to talk about love. I'm a romantic at heart for as long as I can remember. I hope, dream and always hope that the best in people will shine through and for love to win the day.

Well, during the Olympics I happened to catch Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada performing their ice dancing routine and I was blown away. In elementary school, I went to four different schools and had to learn how to make friends over and over again. I think that's why I loved reading--I could get lost in books and could re-read them whenever I wanted. As I got older, I decided to take control of my creativity and started to write. Once I started writing, I realized that I could imagine worlds that others would read. Even today, I still think that the relationship between an author and a reader is one of the most intimate.

Do You Feel Like You Belong? Brené Brown Braving the Wilderness

Do You Feel Like You Belong? Brené Brown Braving the Wilderness

I remember being in 5th grade and going to gym class, dreading it. I was a skinny kid, tall like a reed, and born with what my Uncle used to joke a "sunken treasure chest." I used to change for gym and be so embarrassed because my chest looked sunken in rather than a chest like Tarzan with big pecs. The medical terminology for the condition is Pectus excavatum and it's more common than people might think—1 in 1,000 births.
