Peer-to-Peer Story and More

My latest story “P2P” is now up online at Alienskinmag.com. I’m rather happy to see this story up online.  I had a lot of fun writing this piece.  And although it was rejected time and time again from all the major magazines, I am rather proud that it found its niche. 

I came up with the story idea a while ago and just sat down and whipped the story out.  It’s not a complicated story, is a bit humorous (for those who get the joke), and I poke fun at the music industry.  Ever since Napster came on the scene back in 1999, I have believed that the music industry has continued to drop the ball in embracing new technology.

The Coin Collector: Draft Two

At around 6:30 a.m. yesterday, I finished my second draft of my story "The Coin Collector." I hadn't worked on the story in the last week having been busy with work and the like.

I did some thinking on this story and I'm consciously trying to raise the level of my writing as well as keeping the story concise. It's a simple story. Nothing too complicated in it.

I'm hoping to finish it in a week or two. I've asked my wife to read it and to give me some feedback on it. I find that she's a good reader, able to point out some excellent opinions about a scene.

Is there anything else on the horizon with writing? At the moment, I am not in the middle of another story and I've put the novel on "hold" so that I can finish up the story and prepare to go away on my business trip next month.

SFWoE Contest: Placed Fifth

Just wanted to write this down. As fate would have it, I started wondering why I had not received notification about the SFWoE (Science Fiction Writers of Earth) contest I had entered back in November 2004.

Late this evening I received notification that my story "Toynbee's Gate" placed fifth out of 143 entries. No, I didn't win any of the money but I was pleased to crack the top five.

I've been informed that I will be receiving a letter that will enable me to submit other stories to the 2005 contest.

I have one other story out in a contest and I also sent out my story "Follow Me" to another paying online Website.

In the meantime, I need to gather my strength (and get over being sick with a stomach virus) and start work again on my novel "Amelion's Song."
