New Star Trek Trailer

I was working on some promotion sharing for my fantasy novel "Dorothea's Song" earlier this morning when I decided to take a break and see if I could find the trailer for the new Star Trek movie that is being shown before the new bond film "Quantum of Solace." And, as luck would have it, I found it on YouTube. I don't know how long the trailer will be up before it's yanked down, but I did get to see it.

What do I think? Well, the video quality is poor but if you full screen the trailer you do get to see a bit more. The good news is that the HD version will be released on the official website on Monday morning so that's less than two days. My first reaction: "What the heck am I watching? Is this a commercial for something else before the trailer?" Yeah, that's not necessarily a good thing to think about while watching a trailer. I was a bit disoriented because everything I was first seeing wasn't Trek and then things shifted.

The space battles (and I love my space battles) look pretty amazing, but I won't know more until I see a high quality trailer. Will everything look super slick and fake CGI or will there be a gritty feel to the movie like the original Star Wars? The Trek universe has often been slick looking and I'm hoping that the movie has a great plot, strong acting and not just a lot of smoke and flash.

What do you think about the trailer? Thumbs up? Thumbs down? I'm mixed to be honest.
