Because I want to celebrate love, freedom and what's important to me. The words say it all. And the story of how "Once" was made and how the musicians struggled to make their music. And then for them to win the Oscar for best song this past year. The symbol of what their art means and their not giving up. That's what I wish to celebrate today.
Put it all together and see the big picture. Think! As it's so much more than red, white and blue. Listen to Carl Sagan talk about this and listen. Open your mind.

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium.
